Story

‘Osterriethhuis’ – rococo architecture – rebuilt according to a design by Jan Pieter van Baurschelt de Jonghe in 1749 – rebuilt in later years by Joseph Hertogs and Hugo Van Kuyck – protected since 1948 – architectural heritage since 2019

Huis Athelean -the former ‘Osterriethhuis’ on the Meir- is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful landmarks in the commercial and historical heart of Antwerp. The property was restored in line with its authenticity and heritage value. Modern touches were added such as the glazed roofs over the courtyards which is, not only striking but provides the commercial areas with an abundance of daylight. The subtle tension between old and new and its striking unbeatable location in the middle of Flanders’ best shopping street make this building a unique retail location for the ultimate shopping experience.

Bright old-meets-new hotspot for the ultimate shopping experience
